When Covid-19 hit earlier in the year, Avebury Ward, a secure mental health ward on the St Bernard’s Hospital site was prepared at speed for patients with Covid-19.
A team with different skills and experience, was brought together from across the Trust and beyond.
The team includes Fernando Neirynck previously a bar owner in Spain, whose business was forced to close due to the pandemic. On his return to the UK, he joined the domestic team on the ward.
Other members of the team redeployed from across the Trust include: Katie Harrington, a court liaison nurse who normally works at Westminster Crown Court, Sharnell Clarke, a student nurse and Evaldas Kmieliauskas, a trainee nurse associate from Broadmoor Hospital.
Every patient the team cared for on Avebury Ward has now been discharged to their original ward.
