Changes to West London Tri-borough Perinatal Mental Health Service

29 October 2018

We are pleased to announce that from today, Monday 29 October 2018 the Perinatal Mental Health Service will be able to take referrals for pregnant women until the end of the first postnatal year.

Extra funding from NHS England has enabled us to extend the care and treatment we offer to existing clients and new referrals. Women, who are referred when they are approaching one year post-natal, will be advised and supported to access the most appropriate service for them. This is an extension from the previous provision, which ended when the child was six months old.

Women with severe and complex mental illness will be offered:

  • Pre-conception assessments – support when they are planning a pregnancy
  • Support in pregnancy
  • Support during admission to the maternity hospital if they are delivering at Queen Charlotte’s or West Middlesex maternity units
  • Support until the end of the 1st postnatal year
