Residents across north west London will now have access to GP and practice nurse appointments from 6.30pm – 8pm (6.30pm – 9pm in Brent and Kensington and Chelsea), Monday to Friday and from 8am – 8pm, Saturday and Sunday.
These new extended hours are in addition to existing GP services, meaning that residents can now access primary care services seven days a week, through their own GP practice and extended access hubs across north west London.
Patients can access these extended access appointments by calling their GP practice to book an appointment or by calling NHS 111 when their own practice is closed. Urgent Care Centres (UCC) and A&E departments will also be able to direct patients to the service at the weekends.
Work is also underway to enable UCCs to directly book appointments for people who do not require A&E care.
It is hoped that additional GP appointments will help to relieve pressure on hospital emergency departments and UCCs, as well as provide more convenient access to routine general practice for patients.
In addition to this, our Single Point of Access (SPA), also known as the 24/7 Helpline, is a telephone based service which manages all adult mental health referrals as well as providing telephone support to patients and carers. If you are in a mental health crisis and need urgent support, please phone 0800 328 4444. For more information, please visit the Single Point of Access page on our website.
