Best for you.jpgBest for You, an NHS mental health programme, has launched a new series of videos to support young people and families. Created with support from YouTube Health, these videos provide trusted advice on key mental health topics.

The first three videos, released for Children’s Mental Health Week, cover:

  •  What does alcohol mean to you? (Monday 3 Feb)

  • How to tell someone about self-harm (Wednesday 5 Feb)

  • How to manage anxiety by understanding your brain (Friday 7 Feb)

New videos will continue to be released weekly, covering topics like eating disorders, social media, depression, and serious mental health conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Dr Johan Redelinghuys, West London NHS Trust Clinical Director of Local Services, Child Psychiatrist, Clinical Director for North West London CAMHS Provider Collaborative, and Clinical Director for Best for You, explained why these videos are so important:

“We have worked collaboratively with young people and clinicians to develop these films, responding to commonly asked questions about mental health to ensure that young people searching online have access to safe, accurate information from a UK-based source.

“Crucially, our content reaches young people wherever they are, whether they have initial questions about mental health or concerns about their friends’ wellbeing, or whether they are waiting for appointments with mental health services or learning to cope following a diagnosis of a serious mental health condition.

“Thanks to the generous support of YouTube, Best for You can directly respond to the threat of online misinformation and ensure those starting to struggle with their well-being can access timely information, signposting, and early intervention. Simultaneously, our content supports those struggling with complex mental health needs, including through reducing stigma and misinformation among their peers.”

With over 75% of young people using YouTube, it is essential they can find reliable, expert-led information. Best for You’s partnership with YouTube ensures these videos appear in trusted spaces, helping young people access accurate advice whenever they need it.
