From the 15-21 May the trust will mark Mental Health Awareness week and the theme for this year is ‘anxiety.’ Service lines have been busy preparing to arrange a bumper line up of events during the week, here is a preview of what’s to come.
Cassel Hospital marks 100th anniversary
The Cassel Hospital will be marking its 100th anniversary with a special centenary quilt project. The project is being led by former Cassel Hospital patient, palliative care nurse and lecturer Hannah Cadogan. The quilt will be on display at Ham House and Garden, a National Trust property in Richmond throughout the week. Sarah Olney MP for Richmond Park is expected to visit Ham House on Friday 19 May to view the quilt.
Mental health and wellbeing drop-in session
Colleagues from the Hammersmith and Fulham Mental Health Integrated Network Teams (MINT) will be hosting a mental health and wellbeing drop-in session at Hammersmith Broadway on the 15 May in the morning, and at Hammersmith Library from 2 to 4pm. The teams will be there to offer mental health, wellbeing tips and resources to all visitors.
Wellbeing and Recovery college launch – Brentford Football Club
An innovative new partnership between the Trust’s Wellbeing & Recovery College and Brentford FC’s Community Sports Trust launches at an event on 16 May 2023, 12pm to 2pm, as part of mental health awareness week.
Former Premier League striker Marcus Gayle, who now works as a club ambassador at Brentford FC and will be speaking at the event said:
“It’s fantastic to see the Community Sports Trust partnering with the West London NHS Wellbeing & Recovery College to provide wellbeing support and management of mental health for adults across Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow."
“Mental illness does not discriminate; it can affect anyone regardless of your age, gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, background or other aspect of cultural identity”.
Dr Mostafa Shalaby – What is anxiety and how to manage it?
Dr Mostafa Shalaby, Consultant Psychiatrist at the Trust will be explaining what anxiety is and sharing his expertise on how to manage and seek help in a short video clip.
