We are pleased to announce the Trust has been awarded its third Gold ‘Cycle Friendly Employer’ plaque, this time for Broadmoor Hospital and Hammersmith and Fulham Mental Health unit, by Cycling UK. West London NHS Trust is now the proud recipient of Gold ‘Cycle Friendly Employer’ status (the top level) for all of our large sites - St Bernard’s Hospital, Lakeside, Broadmoor Hospital, Hammersmith and Fulham and Trust Headquarters.
What does a gold cycle accreditation mean?
Cycling UK is one of the UK’s leading cycling organisations providing an accreditation scheme for employers to demonstrate their commitment to encouraging staff and visitors to cycle. This in turn helps to fight climate change, staff staying active, and offering a sustainable mode of travel. You can read more about our Green plan here.
Cycling facilities for staff and visitors
All our Gold cycle accredited sites offer secure sheltered bicycle storage, maintenance tool stations for staff and visitors, showers, changing facilities, lockers and drying facilities for staff. The Trust Travel and Transport team also provide advice for visitors arriving by bike on our website.
Ensuring the Trust has Gold Standard cycling facilities has been driven by Suki Kaur, Facilities Site Co-ordinator and Debbie Nicholson Assistant Facilities Site Manager. The completion of the audits has been carried out by our fantastic Cycling Lead volunteer, Marion Arundel.
Are there plans for other sites to reach this cycling standard?
The team have now completed the audit for all main Trust sites and are now planning to audit some smaller sites - The Cassel and Clayponds Hospital.
