The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has today (14 July) published a report following an inspection of our community and recovery mental health services in April, giving a rating of ‘requires improvement’.
The inspection has not altered the overall Trust rating, which remains ‘good’.
Key bits of feedback from the CQC included:
- The service provided a range of treatments to meet the varying needs of people. Despite staff shortages in some areas, there were enough medical and specialist staff to meet people’s needs.
- Staff treated patients with kindness and compassion and actively involved them in decisions about their care.
- The service was well-led.
Alongside the report’s overall rating for the service of ‘requires improvement’, other key ratings were:
Are services caring? – ‘good’
Are services safe? – ‘inadequate’
Are services well-led? – ‘requires improvement’
Are services ‘effective’? - ‘requires improvement’
In response to the report, Carolyn Regan, Trust Chief Executive said:
“We welcome the findings of the Care Quality Commission’s report today, and as part of a robust plan we are fully determined to use this as an opportunity to further grow and build on service delivery and improvement. The report acknowledges our caring staff who continue to deliver compassionate care across all our community services, day in day out.”
“We firmly believe we can make the focussed changes needed to consistently deliver high quality standards for patients across our communities and look forward to working with all staff and partners.”
