Well done to Trust volunteer Ragini Patel who has been nominated for the Ealing Together honours scheme.

The council launched its Local Honours last month asking people to nominate anyone who works or studies in the borough who made a difference during the pandemic.

More than 50 nominations were received in the first week alone with more being submitted every day.

Earlier this year, Ragini was also included in the late Her Majesty The Queen's New Year's honours list and received a British Empire Medal (BEM) for her volunteering efforts in Northolt and Ealing during the pandemic.

Ragini joined the Trust as a volunteer during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 after she was released from her day job as a teaching assistant at Tudor Primary School in Southall.

Her volunteering efforts at the West London NHS Trust involved coordinating activities for patients on wards as well as distributing PPE and food donations across the Trust.

She recently supported the Trust at its Quality Awards at the end of last month and volunteers running the wellbeing zones for staff.

Raginia also helps out at Ealing Soup Kitchen and the Felix Project.

Rashpal Saini, volunteer manager at West London NHS Trust, said: “We're all incredibly proud of Ragini and her achievements as a Trust volunteer and in the wider community. She continues to offer her support to amazing causes and embrace the incredible experiences that volunteering offers, as she takes on new challenges. She's a committed member of the Trust team and we're very lucky to have her support. She truly deserves this award and I'm so pleased she's getting the recognition she deserves.”

Those nominated for the Ealing Together honours will receive a personal letter of thanks from the Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Mohinder Midha, and the Deputy Lieutenant for the London Borough of Ealing, Richard Kornicki.

The council hopes that in future it will also be possible to organise an event to celebrate the community response once the virus is no longer a risk to public health and safety.

The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday 15 October at 2.15pm at Greenford Hall in Ealing.
