Carers' in West London are invited to take some time out at the new Carers’ corner based in Hanwell.
The Carers’ Corner is a West London NHS Charity funded initiative, which aims to provide some respite for carers' in Ealing. It works with the Ealing carers partnership, aiming to provide weekly wellbeing sessions, whilst increasing access to green spaces, improving peer support connections and access to home-grown foods such as fruits, herbs and vegetables. Carers' Corner also works in partnership with Cultivate London and donates any excess foods to local foodbanks in Ealing. The group also works alongside the Ealing Crisis Team, EIP/EIS and various MINT teams.
Along with the plants that are growing, it is envisaged that bonds will form and grow between the carers. This support will then increase the access that carers have with the local community.
What activities can individuals take part in?
There is an indoor space and a large outdoor space, which includes ample seating. Individuals are invited to use the space as they wish, there is an opportunity to grow their own fruits, plants and vegetables. Additionally, there are creative activities carers can take part in such as flower picking and preserving, plant pot painting and ceramics. The green spaces also create a natural habitat for wildlife and birds to use.
Here’s some feedback from our carers on how the space is helping them
“It helps to relax my mind and physically feel fit "
“Will have a positive impact on my mental well-being”
“Improve my physical and mental health”
“Very positive on one's wellbeing”
What are the future plans for the Carers' corner?
To continue to grow, and build a support network and respite opportunities for carers in the community.
