It’s the start of Volunteers’ Week (3 to 9 June) and this year it’s extra special because it also marks 40 years since Volunteers’ Week first launched nationally in 1984. At the Trust we are incredibly proud of our volunteers, for the time, commitment and effort they devote to help improve patient care and staff wellbeing.
Did you know over the last year 115 fantastic volunteers supported our patients an incredible 1,826 times and staff 2,915 times, contributing a total 3,585 hours of service to the Trust to help deliver outstanding patient care
To kick off this special week the Volunteering team will be sending our wonderful volunteers a personalised message in recognition of the work they do. Volunteer Supervisors will be sent a ‘Volunteer appreciation toolkit’ to recognise and thank their volunteers throughout the week. We will also be hearing first-hand from our volunteers on how volunteering has helped them gain valuable experience in healthcare and hone their skillset.
To mark the week Rashpal Saini, Volunteer Services Manager said:
“We are delighted to celebrate the 40th year of national Volunteer’s Week from 3 to 9 June, celebrating the amazing contributions volunteers make to communities across the UK. I’ve had the pleasure of leading the Trust’s Volunteer Services for the last 3 years. In that time, I have met so many wonderful volunteers and found that every single person brings an amazing level of passion and dedication to the role they carry out. That’s what makes our Trust so special and means we will do whatever it takes to support people with our healthcare."
