Earlier this month, a small group of staff based at Broadmoor Hospital competed in a charity Rugby 7’s tournament to raise vital funds for West London NHS Charity.

A huge thank you to Ryan Waters, George Field Maziere, Will Ricketts, Clinton Sassa, Samir Gurung, Osan Gurung, Norbert Ngukwa, Liam Goodison, Andy Wells, James Brown, Matt Pitcher, Sam Bunton, Jamie Holt and George Asamadu for raising £335 for the West London NHS Charity.

The ‘Fat bloke 7s’ Rugby tournament was held at Abbey Rugby Football club in Reading and teams from across Berkshire took part.

The team was led by Ryan Waters who shared details of how the Rugby competition unfolded.

“We ended up finishing third overall out of the eight teams that played, winning two/three group games, winning our quarter final game, but sadly losing in the semi-final. The team was made up of people that haven’t played before, haven’t played in years and one semi-pro player helping us out.

“The first game went well and we won 22-5, in the 2nd game unfortunately we lost 15-10 and in the final group game we won 21-19.

"Into the knockout stages we played the quarter final and won that game 30-10, finally in the semi- final we did lose a tightly contested game 15-10. However, everybody had a great day out and enjoyed themselves even with the few injuries we sustained and are looking forward to doing it again next year.“

Well done to all the participants for their fantastic effort and team spirit.
