Our team of speech and language therapists specialise in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders. We are committed to helping patients to improve their level of function, independence and quality of life through personalised treatment plans, expert advice and education.
Treatment is available at our outpatient clinics across the community, with home visits offered to those who normally cannot attend face to face GP appointments. We also provide therapy to inpatients through the Rosemary Ward at Clayponds Hospital and have specialised teams dedicated to supporting individuals with learning disabilities.
Additionally, we extend our services to nursing homes and hospices across Ealing, ensuring comprehensive care for all.
- Aged 18 and over.
- Reside within the London borough of Ealing.
- Are registered with an Ealing-based GP.
We treat patients who have an acquired or long-term difficulty with speech, language or swallowing difficulties. This may be associated with the following diagnosis:
- Swallowing problems due to frailty or medical deconditioning
- Cardio-vascular problems, such as a stroke
- Degenerative neurological disorder e.g. Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis or motor neurone disease
- Dementia
- Head injuries
- Brain tumour and other cancers
- Respiratory conditions
- Outpatient clinics based in the local neighbourhood, including Acton Health Care, Jubilee Gardens Medical Centre, Ealing Day Treatment Centre and Clayponds Hospital.
- Home visits to patients who cannot normally attend face to face GP appointments. Please note we are unable to provide transport for appointments. Please explore alternative options such as family/friend support, Dial-A-Ride or public transport.
- Outreach support for patients in other settings outside hospital, such as nursing homes and hospices.
Support for primary care and nursing homes:
- We provide specialist advice and guidance to GPs, nursing home staff, patients and carers, including support and discussions about identifying and safeguarding against risk.
- We flag high risk patients to GPs and nursing home staff for potential follow up and close monitoring.
- We provide education and training on specific pathology (such as aspiration pneumonia) and strategies for managing risk in people with swallowing difficulties.
Care for inpatients at Clayponds Rehabilitation Hospital
- If you’re staying in Clayponds Hospital, we offer rehabilitation assessment, therapy and treatment, working with the wider medical team.
Our outpatient and community services in Ealing accept referrals from GPs or consultants .
